MITA was proud to participate in this year’s Public Service Expo25, an event that brought together government entities, students, and members of the public to celebrate innovation, collaboration, and service excellence. Held over several days, the expo was a unique opportunity for MITA to showcase its services, connect with the public, and highlight the people and technology behind Malta’s digital infrastructure.
Our stand became a hub of activity throughout the event. From informative discussions to engaging activities, our team worked together seamlessly to create an interactive experience that reflected the wide range of MITA's services. Departments included the Executive Office, Infrastructure Services Department, Service Management Department and the Information Security & Governance Department all came together as one unified team to represent our Agency.
MITA’s stand was not just about information, it was about interaction. Visitors were welcomed with branded merchandise and encouraged to take part in our quizzes and a raffle, which added a fun and competitive twist to the experience. Children enjoyed our “Finding Sam” game, an interactive challenge featuring our digital mascot. Also, people had a chance to ask questions especially related to the MITABot. The MITABot is a collaborative project in between MITA and Microsoft where through an investment of €4million euros, the Agency launched the 1st AI tool in Maltese. As launched by the Prime Minister, in the coming months the Microsoft Copilot will be introduce across the entire public service to assist them. in
Our Service Call Centre agents actively promoted MITA’s new chatbot service, explaining how it is enhancing customer support and accessibility. Meanwhile, representatives from the Security Operations Centre shared valuable tips on staying safe online.
We were also thrilled to meet with students from various schools and educational institutions. Through casual conversations and interactive sessions, we were able to inspire the next generation about careers in tech and public service.
Throughout the expo, MITA welcomed a wide array of visitors, including the general public, professionals, and students. We were especially honoured to receive visits from the Prime Minister and the President of Malta, who stopped by our stand to meet the team and learn more about our ongoing projects.
MITA’s participation wasn’t limited to public engagement. Our Networks team played a critical role in ensuring that the entire expo ran smoothly from a connectivity standpoint. Their technical efforts resulted in a robust and resilient digital environment for all exhibitors and visitors.
Here are some key statistics from our network deployment at the Public Service Expo25. To ensure resilient connectivity, three Internet Service Providers (ISPs) were engaged, providing an aggregated bandwidth of 1.5G.
During the event, more than 4 terabytes of data were downloaded and over 2 terabytes were uploaded, with peak bandwidth usage reaching 1,250 Mbit/s. At its highest point, there were around 850 concurrent users connected via Wi-Fi.
From an infrastructure standpoint, the setup included 10 aggregator switches and 38 LAN switches, along with over 60 Wi-Fi access points distributed across the venue. The cabling requirements were equally extensive, with nearly 1 kilometre of fibre optic cable and approximately 6 kilometres of copper cable laid to support the event's digital needs.
The Public Service Expo25 was a fantastic opportunity for MITA to showcase its work, interact with the community, and emphasize the importance of digital transformation in the public sector. Our strong presence reflected our ongoing commitment to service, innovation, and teamwork. We look forward to continuing this journey and building stronger connections.
