Remanded for assaulting ex-partner in Court

“You will not see any mercy from me,” Magistrate tells man as he remands him into custody, after being arraigned for assaulting his former partner inside Court.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona this morning refused to grant bail to a man who was charged for violently assaulting his former partner in court. The incident happened late yesterday morning, when 31 year-old Renald Hayman of Senglea assaulted Rodianne Pace and their daughter Chaylise.

Hayman was arrested as he attacked Pace and slammed her head against the court notice-board.

When brought before Magistrate Micallef Trigona, the accused was reprimanded for the fact that he was charged on a similar offence a few days ago, and has a history of violent behaviour towards his former partner.

"You will not see any mercy from me. I have given you enough chances, and I will surely not give you any other chance now. I will be remanding you into custody," the Magistrate told Hayman.

His lawyer Michael Sciriha attempted to ask for bail, but it was immediately denied.
