[WATCH] Man, 51, stabbed to death at Swieqi residence
David Abela, father of four, was stabbed to death at his residence in Swieqi
The police have launched a homicide investigation after the body of a man was found in Swieqi.
As investigations intensify, it results that David Abela, 51, was murdered inside his home. It was his partner, who had just returned home, who walked upon the macabre discovery in the couple's bedroom.
Abela, owner of 21st Century Travel and director at Aviaserve Ltd among other positions, was found with his hands and feet bound, and his mouth covered with tape.
An emotional scene outside the Swieqi residence unfolded, where family, friends and neighbours have gathered, MaltaToday’s Yannick Pace reports.
Abela’s brother and sister were also present.
He has four children, three from his first marriage and a four-year-old from his current partner.
Informed sources told MaltaToday that the murder appears to be unrelated to the recent wave of crimes.
The police have not said how the man was killed. Neighbours on site told MaltaToday that they didn't hear any gunshots, whilst media reports suggest that Abela was stabbed to death.
