MEPA senior planning officer is appointed chief executive
Johann Buttigieg appointed MEPA chief executive
MEPA officer Johann Buttigieg has been appointed as the authority's new Chief Executive Officer.
Buttigieg joined the authority as an enforcement officer and later became a case officer. Later he became senior planning officer and was assigned to major projects.
In his role Buttigieg worked on the South Malta Sewage Treatment Plant, the Flood Relief Project, the Ten-T project and Smart City.
Only two persons applied for the post, a spokesperson for the parliamentary secretary Michael Farrugia told MaltaToday.
On April 20 Michael Farrugia has already described Buttigieg as his "point of reference in MEPA" when quizzed about Buttigieg's role by the Times of Malta before the internal call of applications was issued.
Farrugia had described Buttigieg as someone he could trust who provided him with precise information on what was going on.
No information was provided by the parliamentary secretariat on how the selection process was carried out but the spokesperson confirmed that only 2 people applied for the post.
"As customary any personal interests were provided by the applicants," the spokesperson confirmed.
