Three cable faults cause loss of supply in north part of island
Situation should be back to normal later on today but some customers might lose supply shortly due to switching works.
At around 9:30pm yesterday night a fault occurred on an 11kV feeder supplying the areas of Għadira, Ċirkewwa and surroundings.
Half an hour later, another fault developed on an underground 33kV cable which supplies the island of Gozo. Because of this fault, all of Gozo lost supply but engineers were quick to switch the load onto the 33kV overhead lines and supply to Gozo started being restored at around 23:30 and supply was completely restored at 23:43.
Around the same time, another fault occurred on an 11kV cable which feeds the areas of Għadira and Ċirkewwa. Due to this fault, supply could not be fully restored to these areas. At this moment in time, Enemalta employees are on site to locate the fault and start repair works on all of the three cables.
