Anonymous man accuses African government of genocide
An anonymous man has blamed the policies of the African National Congress (ANC) for a series of members and criminal attacks on thousands on white farmers, in what he called the “Afikaner Boer”.
A petition has been sent to a United Nations special advisor on the prevention of genocide. South Africa’s government consider this move to be “ludicrous”. Government spokesman Themba Maseko said "There is no wholesale attempt to commit murder against Afrikaner farmers. This is ludicrous in the extreme."
The petition argues that the Anglo-Boer war is the first act of genocide against the Afrikaner people. It also acknowledges the crime of apartheid, adding that ‘the perpetrators have now become the victims of those they oppressed.’
The anonymous man's lawyer, Fanie Van de Walt, said the document had been sent to the UN, in an attempt to force an investigation of crimes against the minority of white farmers in South Africa.
Official figures suggest around 3,020 white farmers have been murdered since 1990, but the petition claims the true figure is 36,500.
