Man who raped 14-year-old boy jailed
Moroccan man jailed for 10 years after he was found guilty of repeatedly sexually abusing a Maltese boy over a four-year-period

A Moroccan man was jailed for ten years after he was found guilty of repeatedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy over a period of four years.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli heard how in 2004, Hamid El Faiq, 50, had invited the victim into his apartment to give him computer lessons after meeting him at a computer shop in Bugibba.
On one occasion, El Faiq plied the boy with alcohol until he was insensible before proceeding to sexually abuse him. The boy, who could not remember the incident, began to suffer from flashbacks where he came to understand that he had been sexually abused.
Two days later, El Faiq asked him to visit again, which he did. On this occasion, he had intercourse with the boy, who later claimed to have been terrified.
The liaisons soon became a regular occurrence, but when the victim said he was uncomfortable and wanted to stop, the accused began giving him money and cannabis.
After failing to visit El Faiq for some time, the accused began to threaten the boy with an alleged video recording of their encounters, saying he would show it to third parties if he did not comply.
After his arrest, El Faiq had told police that he worked for the victim’s brother-in-law and claimed that the boy was making up the stories as revenge because of a financial debt which he owed the man.
He also claimed that he was beaten by police, who he said had invented the charges.
However, medical evidence of scarring in the relevant areas of the boy’s body was exhibited in court, supported the sexual abuse claims.
El Faiq had been sentenced to eight years imprisonment in 2010, also for the rape of another 14-year old boy whom he had also lured into his apartment, that time using the youth's interest in football as a ruse. The latest sentence will come into effect on the completion of the 2010 sentence.
