Ebay removes Holocaust memorabila

Auction site Ebay removes more than 30 items of holocaust memorabilia which were being sold on the site.

Triggered by an investigation by a UK based newspaper, Internet auction site Ebay apologised and removed from its site over 30 items of memorabilia from the Nazi Holocaust

Item auctioned on the site included shoes, stars of David armbands, toothbrushes and a uniform allegedly worn by a Polish baker who died at Auschwitz. The uniform had already reached $18,000. The site said it donated $40,000 to charity to make up for what happened.

A statement issued by Ebay read listings of such nature were not allowed on the site. "We dedicate thousands of staff to policing our site and use the latest technology to detect items that shouldn't be for sale. We very much regret that we didn't live up to our own standards. We have made a donation to charity to reflect our concern."

During the World War II holocaust over six million Jews together with Romany Gypsies, homosexual people, and disabled people were killed by the Nazis and their collaborators.
