Cynergi's membership fees reduced to reflect VAT reduction

Budgetary measure reduced VAT on sports activities to 7% in a bid to encourage healthy living

Cynergi Health and Fitness Club has reduced its membership fees to reflect an 11% VAT reduction announced by the government during the budget presented in October.

In a press statement, Cynergi said that, as from 1 January, membership prices were cut to reflect the new 7% VAT rate.

The budgetary measure on sports activities included gym memberships, fitness centres and football nurseries. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat lately complained that several centres had not passed on these reductions to the consumers.

“In line with our commitment to improve the health and wellbeing of the Maltese population, we welcome the government’s initiative and are very happy to play an active role in promoting healthy lifestyles in Malta,” Cynergi General Manager Jim Harvey said.

“2016 will introduce lots of new and exciting opportunities for Cynergi Health and Fitness Club including plans and preparations for boot camps, nutritional talks, free wifi and international fitness guests.”

Harvey said that the change in membership fees will hopefully allow many more people to be part of the Cynergi fitness family and will enhance the first class fitness experience they already provide for their members and their guests.
